Hi,
I'm Luiza Baccelli
I’m 34 years old, originally from Brazil, and currently based in Spain, though I’m available to work anywhere. I'm an Assistant Director, and here’s a bit about my journey and how I came to work in the film industry.

My Story
I was born in São Paulo, and grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Between the beaches and Carnival, I first fell in love with cinema—as a spectator. As a teenager, I took acting classes and explored the world of performance. Some years later, I left the stage to work behind the scenes, starting as a production assistant.

When I entered university, I chose to study Social Communication with a focus on Advertising and Marketing. I interned at an advertising agency in account management and worked as a purchasing assistant in a retail company—but I missed being close to art. That led me to work as an executive production assistant, where I learned how to submit projects for grants, manage budgets for incentivized projects, and realized how processes for producing theater and feature films often overlap.

I began participating in independent short film productions and decided to study cinema formally, completing a course in Film Directing at the Darcy Ribeiro Film School, followed by an Assistant Directing course with Hsu Chien. This marked the start of my career as an Assistant Director. I began as an intern and 3rd Assistant, and soon advanced to 2nd Assistant. Moving to São Paulo, I consolidated my experience, working across cinema and advertising, interweaving projects of different formats—documentaries, music videos, short films, features, and series.

Gradually, I started taking on 1st Assistant Director responsibilities on smaller projects. But in 2024, I attended the San Sebastián Film Festival, where I had the opportunity to see I’m Still Here, a film I worked on as 2nd Assistant Director. And inspired by this experience, I decided to recalibrate my career path and move to Europe.

Here, I have taken specialized courses in assistant direction and cinematography, volunteered at film festivals, and worked as 1st Assistant Director on the Italian documentary Igor. L’eroe romantico del calcio.
Holding both Brazilian and Italian citizenships, I relocated to Europe to embrace new professional challenges, contribute my expertise, and continue developing my career in cinema.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know my path. If you’re looking for someone to collaborate with, let’s connect.
